Funeral services for Mrs. Margaretha Beck, 77, who died in St. Francis hospital Monday, will be held from St. Paul’s Catholic church Friday at 9 am Mrs. Beck was the widow of John Beck, who died 4 years ago.
Mrs. Beck was born in Germany in December 1852, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kalmus. She came to America with her parents when she was 14 years old and the family made their home at Middletown, Ia. in 1876 she was married to John Beck. Although Mrs. Beck had been an invalid for some time she maintained a Christian spirit and was patient in her affliction. Three weeks ago she suffered a stroke and was taken to the hospital.
Surviving are one daughter, Miss Elizabeth Beck of Burlington; one brother, John Kalmus of Danville; two sisters, Mrs. Susan Striegle of Burlington and Mrs. Susie Boner of New London and several nieces and nephews.
The body will remain at Unterkircher’s funeral home until the time of the funeral.
