George W. Yaley, a pioneer Des Moines county resident died at the home of his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Frank E. Yaley, 521 Maple street Thursday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock. He was born in Lancaster, Ohio, July 26, 1836 and was eighty-five years old at the time of his death. He has lived in Des Moines county the greater part of the time since he came here sixty years ago and was one of its best known residents. He married Sarah J. Harris in Burlington March 19, 1863. For many years he lived on his farm in the southern part of Des Moines county. Twenty years ago he gave up farming and retired, living the greater part of the time at Stronghurst, Ill. His wife died there in June 1918 and since that time he has lived with his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Frank Yaley in Burlington. Besides his Des Moines county farm, he also owns farm land in Illinois. He was well known to many Burlington people and many men thru Des Moines county and the Illinois river counties. Two children survive him, A. Yaley of Media, Illinois and Mrs. Mellinger of Boise, Idaho.
