Claire Breann Orndorff, 82, of Burlington, died at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born April 10, 1928, in Mercer County, MO, she was the daughter of Eldon Lee and Frances Ermal Glore Orndorff. On December 24, 1945, she married Lester Floyd Cheely in Kansas City, Kan. He died February 27, 2006. Ms. Orndorff worked 35 years for Winegard Co. She was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. She enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching, and Bible study. Survivors include three daughters, Sherry Ohlmutz of Burlington, Melanie Kewin of Omaha, Neb., and Lisa Siegel of Hinsdale, Ill.; one son, Gary Cheeley of Burlington; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bob Orndorff of Blue Springs, MO, and Jimmie Orndorff of St. Charles, MO; two sisters, Martha Ames of Ewing, MO, and Shirley Shilp of Grand Rapids, Mich.; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington, where family will receive friends. The graveside funeral for Ms. Orndorff will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Tom Smith officiating.
