Obituary
The funeral of Mrs. John Zimmerman will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the German Lutheran church, at West Burlington, The interment will be in Aspen Grove. Albert Zimmerman, a son of the deceased will arrive from California Monday morning. The Quincy Journal contains the following regarding Mrs. Zimmerman: Mrs. Zimmerman was born in Westphalia, Germany and wa aged 59 years, and was well known in Quincy. Her first husband was Rev. Kuhlenhoelter, who for over a quarter of a century was the beloved pastor in charge of Salem church in this city. He was an able, popular and widely known minister and had many admirers and friends and his memory is yet revered by all who knew him. He died here while in charge of Salem church in 1882, and nine years later the widow married Rev. Zimmerman, who up to last year was president for twenty consecutive years of the German Evangelical synod of North America, and who survives her. After their marriage here, which, as stated above, occurred at the residence of the late Mrs. Bredeweg, the couple moved to St. Charles, Missouri where Rev. Zimmerman had a pastorate and from there they moved to Burlington, where the Rev. Zimmermann is well known and highly esteemed. When at the last session he tendered his resignation of the high office which he had filled so honorably for so long, it caused universal sorrow in the synod, and everyone who knows him regretted it. Her first husband, Rev. Kuhlenhoelter, who died very suddenly January 1, 1882, was stricken with apoplexy on Sunday during the hour of the service, which he failed to begin on time and not putting in an appearance at the proper hour, some one started out to see what was the matter and found the reverend gentleman stricken on the floor in one of the ante-rooms where his wife had been with him just previously.
