Obituary

Mrs. Caroline Zimmer, 83, widow of Henry Zimmer, died at her home, 228 South Ninth street, at 1 o'clock this morning, after several months illness. She had been a resident of Burlington 64 years. Caroline Staub was born near Germanville, Ia., in Jefferson county, July 16, 1848, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Staub. She came to Burlington when she was 19 years of age and has lived here ever since. In 1875, she was married to Henry Zimmer, who for many years conducted a shoe shop on Division street, between Main and Third streets. Mr. Zimmer died in 1927. Mrs. Zimmer was a member of Grace M.E. church. She is survived by a son, E.H. Zimmer, and a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Gilbert, of Burlington; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a brother, Adam Staub of Wyoming, and two sisters, Mrs. George Schmidtline of Austin, Mo.,and Mrs. LeVan of Kansas City, Mo. The body is at the residence wher funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Fred Skewes, with burial in Aspen Grove cemetery.
