KyVan Bogdan Chavez, 3, of Burlington died at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born June 19, 2006, in Iowa City, he was the son of Robert Richard and Roma Caruso Chavez. KyVan enjoyed the Disney movie "Cars", watching "Dora the Explorer", and "Go, Diego, Go!" on television, being at work with his father, piggy-back rides, laughing, being tickled, swinging, and playing outside. Survivors include his parents; three sisters, Kylie Caruso, Kyana Chavez, and Kaycie Chavez at home; one brother, Cody Pedigo at home; his maternal grandparents, Bogdan and Julia Sosnowskiy of West Dundee, Ill.; and his paternal grandparents, Mac Chavez of East Moline, Ill., Robert Edmunds of Fulton, Ill., Patricia Rolands of Sterling, Ill., Roxxy Colwell of Davenport, and George Hornbeak of Rock Island, Ill. He was preceded in death by two paternal grandmothers. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The funeral for KyVan Chavez will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Morris C.Hurd officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for the family.
