Obituary
Charles J. Bloomberg, 78, 815 Sycamore, died Tuesday at 5 pm in St. Francis hospital after a long illness.
He was born Nov. 26, 1876, in Sweden, to Samuel and Johanna Bloomberg. He came here with his parents in 1880. Dec. 9, 1903, he married Hilma Swanson in Burlington. She died in Feb. 1947.
He was a machinist for the Burlington Basket Co. for many years, and for the last 14 years of his active life, he was assistant engineer at Hotel Burlington. He retired in 1950. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and a charter member of the Moose lodge.
Surviving are his son, Charles, of Burlington; a daughter, Mrs. Clifford Peterson, Burlington; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Otto of Burlington and Harry, of Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. Charles E. Carlson, Long Island City, LI Two daughters, one grandson, four brothers, and a sister are dead.
Services will be Friday at 2 pm from Wallen’s chapel. The Rev. ME Lehman will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
