Mrs. Mary C. Dahlin died at 504 S. 9th street at 6:55 p.m., Monday following a long illness. She was born Mary Peterson in Rock Island, Ill., January 20, 1871, and lived in Rome before coming here about 60 years ago. She was married in Burlington in 1889 to Andrew J. Dahlin, who died in 1922. She was a member of West Hill Methodist church, of the W.S.C.S. of the church, the VFW auxiliary, and the American Legion auxiliary. Surviving are 3 sons and 2 daughters, Mrs. Esther Swanson, and Leonard and Clarence Dahlin of Burlington; Mrs. Ruth Hansen, Wesley and Philip Dahlin of Davenport; 3 sisters, Mrs. John Dempster, Foley, Ala.; Mrs. Charles Nelson, Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Jessie Mills, Mt. Pleasant; 9 grandchildren and 3 sisters. One son, Vernie J. Dahlin, was killed in action in World War 1 and 2 children died in infancy. Two brothers, John and Ellick Peterson, are also dead. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the West Hill Methodist church, preceded by short services at Burnett-Wallen funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Rev. E.S. Blomquist will officiate and burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
