Obituary
William L. Linder passed away at 11:30 o'clock yesterday forenoon at his home, No. 416 North Fourth street. He had been in failing health for some time, had submitted to an operation for an abscess of the lungs a year ago and finally succumbed to pneumonia and complications. He was on of the older business men of the city and came here some fifty years ago. He was first employed at the Raab Bros.' store and later started in business for himself. During many years he was in the clothing trade on the north side of Jefferson between Third and Fourth streets. He retired from trade a number of years ago. He owned the building occupied by the Woolworth stores and other property. Mr. Linder was very fond of the river and from the opening of the river season to its close he was out in his launch when the weather permitted, and he spent many really happy days on the Father of the Waters. William L. Linder was born April 20, 1843, lived near New London for some time and came to this city as a young man. On August 4, 1870, he was married to Miss Mary A. Steele, and at first they made their home in a neat little brick cottage on Valley street, opposite the old High school building. Later they lived at Fifth and Spring streets. Mrs. Linder passed away October13, 1900, and their only child, William Linder, died some four years ago. Mr. Linder is survived by his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sadie Linder, who has been making the old gentleman's home pleasant for him since her husband's death and gave him all the care and comfort possible. There is a brother, Isaac Linder, in New London, and a sister, Mrs. Lee, of Yarmouth. The arrangements for the funeral will be announced later.
The funeral of W.L. Linder will take place from the family home, No. 415 North Fourth street, at 2:30 o'clock this (Friday) afternoon. Friends are invited to these services. The interment in Aspen Grove will be private.
