Obituary
This morning at the family home, 1212 Osborn street, William Woepking, one of the oldest business men in this city, passed away after an illness of several weeks. The cause of death was typhoid fever, but Mr. Woepking had suffered severely from an injury received on November 22nd, when he fell from a ladder while trimming trees, and fractured the left thigh bone. Untill two years ago Mr. Woepking had led an active business life, but he then retired in favor of his brother, Theodore Woepking. Mr. Woepking was fifty years old, and is survived by his wife, one daughter, Ida, a brother, Theodore, two sisters, Mrs. W. J. Schroeder, all of this city and Mrs. William Busse, of Fremont, Neb. The deceased was born in Germany and came to America in 1854, living in Burlington continuously since that year. He was a member of the first German Evangelical church, and took a great interest in the affairs of the church. In all his business life Mr. Woepking was noted for his uprightness and square dealing, and his friends in this community were numbered by the hundred.
