Obituary
A death occurred on Sunday evening that will cause mournful sorrow in very many hearts. Mrs. Catharine Hagemann, the wife of ex-Alderman E. Hagemann, was called away through the effects of pleurisy, after having but recently returnded from Hot Springs, Arkansas, where, accompanied by her husband, she had spent several months trying to find relief from rheumatic troubles. Mrs. Hagemann was a native of Germany, her home being near the city of Cassei. Coming to this country more than forty years ago, she was married to Mr. Hagemann in 1852, and was 60 years of age at the time of her death. she was a most estimable lady, whose natural kindness of heart, whose ever readiness to help and comfort those in affliction, whose sterling friendship made her the beloved of a very large number of devoted friends. Her death will make a vacancy which will painfully be felt by very many.
The funeral of Mrs. e. Hagemann, which was held yesterday afternoon, was one of the largest. The floral tributes of friends were unusually numerous, and was evidence of the high esteem enjoyed by the deceased. Mr. Theodore Guelich made an appropriate address at the house, and the following friends of the family were the pall-bearers: Chas. Starker, Chas. Winzer, Aug. Schlapp, C. Mathes, A. Werthmueller. Chas. Wolff.
