Marjorie Eyre, 89, of Burlington, died at 1:18 AM Friday, August 19, 2016, at the Kindred Hospital Indianapolis North in Indianapolis, IN.
Born July 23, 1927, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Arthur and Ethel Bloom Beckman. She married E. Paul Gorman. He died on May 2, 1953. She married Francis "Hoyt" Eyre. He died on March 17, 1969.
Marjorie started as a rural school teacher in Sperry, IA then Washington School and later taught 6th grade math at Horace Mann Junior High.
She graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College with a Bachelors Degree.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed volunteering for church activities and at the senior center, traveling around the world, making crafts and was an avid card player.
Survivors include one son, Mike (Karen) Gorman of Fishers, IN; one granddaughter, Lindsay (Michael) Hartman; one grandson, Kyle (Danielle) Gorman; three great-grandchildren, Haley & Lucas Hartman and Savanna Gorman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and one sister, Jean Gerling.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Prugh's Chapel on North 4th St.
The funeral service for Mrs. Eyre will be 10:00 AM Friday, August 26, 2016, at Prugh's Chapel on North 4th St. with Reverend David Bracht-Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
