Muriel Busch Champagne, 84, of Burlington, died at 1:50 PM Sunday, February 17, 2013, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born July 16, 1928, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Harold and Norma Weichelt Busch. On October 19, 1957, she married Robert J. Champagne in Burlington. He died August 26, 2001.
Muriel worked as a buyer for 17 1/2 years at J. S. Schramm Co.
She graduated from Burlington High School. She had also attended Burlington Junior College, Parsons College in Fairfield, and Raye-Vogue Merchandising School in Chicago.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed entertaining, cooking, knitting, music, crafts, bridge, bowling, and socializing. She loved animals and her many friends. She belonged to the Burlington Business and Professional Women's Organization, G.F.W.C., Burlington Women's Club, Art Guild of Burlington, Animal Protection League, and S.T.O.P.P.(Solution to the Over Population).
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Marilyn Champagne of Burlington; and nieces and nephews John and Doris Champagne of Panama City, FL, Jean and John Howell of West Burlington, Patty Champagne of Lewisburg, KS, Sue and Chris Beatty of Kansas City, MO, Victor and Sandi Champange of Coshocton, OH, Paul and Jennifer Champagne of Tallahassee, FL, Greg and Annette Champagne of Rock Island, IL, and Rob Champagne of Kirksville, MO.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Champagne will be 1:30 PM Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Trevor Davis officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Grace United Methodist Church and the Animal Protection League.
