Dorothea E. Glancy, 94, of Monmouth, Ill., died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at home.
She was born March 15, 1922, in Burlington, the daughter of Ross C. and Ethyl May Thursh Lant. She married Arthur J. Glancy May 22, 1949, in
Burlington; he died Nov. 27, 1966.
She was a 1940 graduate of Burlington High School. As an adult, she took classes to become a physical therapy assistant and worked at Monmouth
Hospital before retiring in 1984.
Mrs. Glancy loved to travel and read. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, the Order of the Eastern Star and First United
Methodist Church in Monmouth.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen M. Glancy of Monmouth; two nephews, Gary Lant of Fort Madison and Dennis HollingerLant of Seattle, Wash.; one niece, Connie Bruner of California; and two dear friends, Katrina Coppejans and Linda Hart, both of Monmouth.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter.
No visitation hours are planned. The graveside service for Mrs. Glancy will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington.
Memorial donations may be given to the Strom Center in Monmouth or Beacon of Hope Hospice.
