Obituary
Mrs. Louise Blaul, 71, life-long resident of Burlington and wife of John Blaul, president of the John Blauls Sons Company, passed away last night in Burlington hospital. An operation, in an effort to save her life, proved unavailing and the end came shortly after 7 o’clock. She had not been in good health for more than a year but her condition was not regarded as especially serious until two weeks ago.
Mrs. Blaul was born in Burlington, April 13, 1853, the daughter of Jacob and Katherine Dewein, who came here in the days of the early Pioneers and she has resided here during her entire life. On May 13, 1877, she united in marriage to Mr. John Blaul.
Of a retiring nature, Mrs. Blaul was a home-loving woman, a woman who devoted herself to her family and was intensely interested in their activities. She enjoyed a wide acquaintance and there are hundreds of close friends who, with the surviving family and relatives, will mourn her passing. She was a life-long member of the First Evangelical Church of Burlington and had been active in church affairs.
The death of Mrs. Blaul makes the third death in the Blaul family within a very few weeks. Mr. Charles Blaul died in December and Mr. Louis Blaul on the last day of January, both of whom were brothers of John Blaul.
Mrs. Louise Blaul is survived by her husband; three sons, Milton, Mark, and Robert Blaul; one daughter, Mrs. Walter Kriehbaum. There also are two sisters, Mrs. Henry Herman of Burlington and Mrs. Herman Bonitz of Clifton, N.J.; two brothers, Louis Dewien and George Dewein of Burlington. There are nine grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be held from the home, 317 South Fifth Street, at 2:30 on Saturday afternoon. Services will be conducted from the First Evangelical church at 3:00, to which friends are invited. Rev. JW Buescher will be in charge of the services. Pallbearers will be Charles Krueger, Henry Griffle, John Gerdon, EB Kerns, Eno Hulsebus, and JS Beard. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
