Mrs. Theodore Blaul, 80, life resident of Burlington, died at 7:10 pm Monday in Burlington hospital where she had been a patient for 2 weeks. Her condition was thought to be improving, but she suffered a reverse Monday afternoon.
Mrs. Blaul, the former Emma Unterkircher, was the daughter of Philip F. and Phoebe Jon Unterkircher, pioneer residents. For many years her home was at 622 Court Street, but she had been a resident of Hotel Burlington for the past 6 years. Her husband, who was associated with the John Blauls Sons company died in 1926.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, of the Norman circle of Kings Daughters, and served on the board of the Whatsoever circle in charge of the old peoples’ home.
A son, Theodore F Blaul, now in Burlington for the funeral, is president of the Blaul wholesale grocery firm in Cedar Rapids. Other children are Mrs. Frederick L. Bock of St. Louis; Mrs. Ralph Todd of LaHarpe. There are 4 grandchildren. Also surviving are 3 sisters, Mrs. HW Potter, Grand Forks, ND; Blanche Unterckircher, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. EC Jordan of Burlington, and a number of nephews and nieces. One son, Arthur is dead.
Funeral services will be held in Prugh’s chapel at 11 am Thursday. Rev. Carl Victor Brown and Dr. Archibald Cardle will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
