Obituary
Miss Emelia Blaul, the last of the children of John Blaul, founder of the John Blaul’s Sons company, died at her home, 113 South Sixth Street, a 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon. Her death followed a short illness.
Miss Blaul was born in this city, July 15, 1857, and lived all her life in the house in which she died. She was a lifelong and faithful member of the First Evangelical church and took a great interest in its activities. Liberal contributions from Miss Blaul assisted greatly in the building of the new church edifice several years ago and she expressed much joy in being able to witness its completion. She lived a quiet and retiring life at the old Blaul home and her interests centered largely in her home.
She was a sister of John, Charles, Theodore, and Louis Blaul, all well-known Burlington men, who preceded her in death. Her parents and one sister, Paulina, died many years ago. Her eldest brother, John Blaul, an outstanding community leader died on September 25 of this year.
Miss Blaul is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the home, with the Rev. JH Buescher, pastor of First Evangelical church, officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The body is at Unterkircher’s funeral home.
