Alma C. Blanke, 90, one of Burlington’s pioneer businesswomen, died Wednesday, March 24, in Elm View Care Center, where she had lived for the past year.
She was born in Burlington Nov. 20, 1891, to Samuel D. and Matilda Gerbling Blanke. Her father founded SD Blanke Insurance Co. in Burlington about 1870 and Miss Blanke was identified with the company for more than half a century.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, King’s Daughters, and PEO.
Cousins survive.
Funeral: 1 pm Friday at Giles-Elliott Funeral Home, Dr. Glenn Parrott; Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial for First United Methodist Church has been established.
