Obituary
Mrs. Lizzie W. Blair, only sister of George Whipple, died at his house about noon yesterday, aged fifty-one years. Mrs. Blair has been an invalid, gradually failing under the slow, wasting on consumption for several years. Of late she has been very delicate and has been closely watched and attentively waited upon. Her death occurred from hemorrhage of the lungs which came upon her suddenly and wholly unexpectedly, while she was alone in her chamber. She summoned her niece and the domestic who were nearby but they were powerless to afford her aid. The other members of the family had stepped out for a while and before they could hurry home she was dead. Her call from life was sudden and almost tragic but she was ready for it and it was mercifully painless. Mrs. Blair was born in the east and spent a portion of her earlier life in Cincinnati, Ohio, where her husband died in 1865. She came to Burlington three years later and has found a pleasant home ever since with Mr. Whipple. She leaves one daughter, a young lady, who has been absent from the city for some time on a visit and whom her death will be a very sad blow.
Funeral Wednesday afternoon from the home of her brother, George Whipple. Burial at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
