Obituary
Christian G. Blaesi went to his reward at his home, No. 318 South Fourth Street, at 5 a.m. Monday, after a brief illness. He was born in Germany, January 21, 1829, and came to the United States at the age of twenty-five years. In 1859, he came to Burlington, and here he worked at his trade, that of a carpenter until the ills accompanying old age compelled him to lay aside the tools, which he wielded with skill. He was one of the old-fashioned workers, who took just pride in their skill and in the things that their hands had fashioned. In 1860, Mr. Blaesi was married to Catherine Gugler, and his union was blessed with two children, Miss Catherine Blaesi, and Theodore Blaesi, both of this city. Mr. Blaesi was a member of the congregation which founded and built the German Evangelical Zion church, and there as wherever he was known, he was held in the highest esteem.
The funeral services have been set for tomorrow(Wednesday) afternoon. The cortege is to leave the home at 2 o’clock and will proceed to the Zion church, where the pastor, the Rev. Mr. J. Erdmann, will conduct the services. Interment will be made in Aspen Grove and the friends are invited to these services.
