Obituary
Mrs. Helen Black, 77, of 1206 S. 15th, died Saturday afternoon in St. Francis hospital after an extended illness.
She was born in Monroe County, Ia., on Oct. 8, 1878, the daughter of Hiram and Emma Shuck Crowell. In May 1907, she married Charles M. Black at Marysville, Mo. He is dead.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church and the Auxilliary of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Clement J. Schwartz, and Mrs. Denby Radford, both of Seattle, Wash.; a son, Benjamin Black, Los Angeles, Calif.; four brothers, Ernest, Kenneth, and Elgy Crowell, all of Burlington and Hollis Crowell, Oskaloosa; also six grandchildren.
Her parents, husband two sisters, and one grandchild are dead.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 pm, from Giles Funeral home. The Rev. Adam Rudy will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home Monday between 7 and 9 pm.
