Robert H. Rockhold, Sr., 69, of 712 S. Central, died early Sunday at Burlington hospital, where he had been a patient for about three weeks. He had lived all his life at the same address. Commercial manager for the Burlington district of the Iowa Southern Utilities Co., Rockhold had been employed by that company for 38 years, working up to the time he was hospitalized. He was born Oct. 10, 1886, in Burlington, the son of Joe and Emily Moore Rockhold. Feb. 16, 1921, he married Edith Johnson in Burlington. He was a veteran of World War I with 17 months overseas service. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran church, a member of the church board and chairman of the church trustees. He was also a member of the Kiwanis club, American Legion and the Chamber of Commerce. Surviving are his wife; a son, Robert H. Rockhold, Jr., burlington; a daughter, Mrs. Emily Schoonover, Davenport; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Rockhold Smith, Boulder, Colo., and Mrs. Oral Clary, Chicago, Il., two brothers, Kenneth E. Rockhold, York, Pa., and Baron Gardner, Long Beach, Calif.; also a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be held in the Messiah Lutheran church Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Donald Anderson of Mediapolis will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery. The body will be taken from Wallen's chapel to the church Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
