Obituary

Ernest Bittner. 509 S. Leebrick street, died at St. Francis hospital at 8:35 am Wednesday after having been in failing health for the past year.
He was born in Austria on Sept. 11, 1859, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Bittner, and came to this country in 1883. He was employed as a stationary fireman at the CB&Q shops in West Burlington for 46 years, retiring about 15 years ago.
June 1, 1885, he married Anna Skeva in Burlington. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic church of West Burlington and a member of the RR veteran’s organization.
Surviving are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. William Higgins of Burlington; one grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews. Five Brothers and 3 sisters are dead.
Funeral services will be held in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Saturday at 9 am. The cortege will leave Prugh’s chapel at 8:40. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The rosary will be recited in Prught’s chapel, Friday at 7:30 pm by the Daughters of Isabella and other friends.
