Harvey C. Jaeger, 305 Ballard, West Burlington, former public safety commissioner, died at Mercy hospital at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday. he had been in failing health for several years. He was born in Burlington, Oct. 17, 1892, the son of John and Anna Bloom Jaeger and was married to Esther Burkholtz in Burlington on May 11, 1929. He was a veteran of army service in World War I, and was a member of the American Legion, and a life member of the Eagles lodge. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran church. He had served as city marshal for a number of years, and was elected superintendent of public safety in 1930, and served on the city council in this capacity for 14 years. He later worked on the guard force at the Sylvania plant, and retired about three years ago. Surviving are his widow; a brother, Arthur Jaeger, of Burlington, and a number of nieces and nephews. A son, a daughter, three sisters and two brothers are dead. Services will be held in Prugh's chapel Friday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. The Rev. Mr. Ear lMeissner will officiate. Burial with military rites at the graveside, will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
