Former city safety commissioner Charles Louis Zaiser was pronounced dead on arrival at Burlington Monday at 5 p.m. Zaiser, 68, of 1825 S. 15th, was striken while fixing a flat tire at a neighbor's garage. he was taken to the hospital by police ambulance. For six years (1948-1954) he served on the city council. He was employed by White House Dairies company for 20 years. He was born Apr. 2, 1892 in Burlington, the son of Jacob and Amelia Hippe Zaiser. On Oct. 16, 1946, he married Mabel Nelson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Ia. He was past commander of American Legion . past president of the Community Picnic association, a World War i veteran and a member of Messiah Lutheran church, Malta Lodge No. 318, TPA and UCT. He served on the Civil Service Commission for five years. Survivors include his wife; one brother, George J. l four sister, Miss Agnes Zaiser, Mrs. Helen Champagne, Mrs. Bertha Westerback and Mrs. Emma Diegl, all of Burlington. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The body is at Wallen's chapel.
