Obituary
George L. Birkenstock, 69, retired furniture salesman and life resident of Des Moines county, died at St. Francis hospital this morning after a lingering illness.
He was born in Prairie Grove, Jan. 1, 1868, and married to Anna Flynn about 45 years ago. His wife died eight years ago.
Surviving are three children, Mrs. AJ Friedal and Roy Birkenstock of this city, and James W. Birkenstock of this city, and James W. Birkenstock of St. Louis, Mo., a grandson, Jack Birkenstock of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Emma R. Strauss of this city, and Mrs. Elvina Oberman of Mediapolis, Ia.; and a brother, AR Birkenstock of Burlington.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 from the Unterkircher funeral home. Interment in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Friends invited.
