Mrs. Sophie Bird, 1513 S. 15th St., died in St. Francis hospital Monday at 2:25 am after an extended illness.
She was born at Keokuk, April 23, 1866, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Mitchell and had resided in this city her entire lifetime. She was a member of St. John’s AME church and St. Elmo chapter of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mathilda Johnson of Burlington, also several nieces and nephews.
The body was removed to Prugh’s chapel. Funeral services Wednesday at St. John’s AME Church. Burial in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
