Randy Paul Caston, 66, died on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Danville Care Center.
He was born in Burlington on December 27, 1948 to Ralph L. Jr. and Carol M. (Arnold) Caston. Randy worked in the family business, Caston’s Shoe Shop, and at Productions Inc. with Jean and Ken Tiemeyer. He was in the first group to go into Hope Haven’s Work Services. A long-time client of Hope Haven, Randy had many beloved supervisors and friends, and performed many tasks. He also participated in Respite on Wheels and other activity programs.
Randy lived with family and went on numerous family vacations including to Florida, North Carolina, and Denver. Randy enjoyed animals and was especially fond of cats. He was a collector of unusual bottles, cups, and stuffed animals. As a creative person, he liked to draw and work with fabric. Randy often brought joy and compassion to those around him and he will be remembered for his laughter and big smile.
He is survived by his mother, Carol, his brothers, Ralph III of Burlington and Richard of North Carolina, and his sisters Betty Evetts of Texas and Merry Caston of Oregon, special friend Lee Hagemeier of Iowa City, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat, Bart.
He is preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Lunning Chapel on Saturday, August 29th, with graveside services at 1 p.m. at Aspen Grove. Mark Caston will officiate.

The family would like to thank the caregivers of Danville Nursing Home where Randy was a happy resident during the last year, and all the supervisors at Hope Haven who enriched Randy’s life.
