August Binder, 82, of 1903 Grube, died at 1:30 am Friday at his home, after a long illness.
Born Sept. 10, 1874, in Burlington, he was the son of Joseph and Augusta Rose Binder. He was married May 18, 1898, in Burlington, to Theresa Gantz.
Binder was employed for 50 years as a machinist at the Burlington railroad shops in West Burlington, retiring in 1940.
He was a member of the First E&R church and the Railroad Veterans association.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Henry, Burlington; Clifford, Mediapolis, and Irvin, superintend of Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington; a daughter, Mrs. Fred Brust, Burlington; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mary Warth, Burlington, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 pm Sunday in Prugh’s Chapel, Rev. R. G. Beck officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
