Obituary
Vernon Rudolph Billups, 43, who operated Cal’s BarBQ at 301 Division, died Monday at 7:45 pm in St. Joseph’s hospital, Keokuk.
He was born in Goliad, Tex., August 30, 1910, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Billups. He married Harriett Merchant at Kahoka, Mo., Sept. 3, 1941. He was a member of Sumner lodge 3 F&AM of Burlington and Shrine Temple of Des Moines.
Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Juanita Billups of Corpus Christ, Tex., a brother, Joseph, of San Antonio, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Estelle McDonald of Beeville, Tex.; Vrs. Anna Ector of San Antonio, Tex.
The body is at Prugh’s chapel.
Funeral services for Mr. Vernon Rudolph Billups, who passed away Oct. 19, 1953, will be held in Prugh’s Chapel, Friday morning at 10:00. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
