Oscar P. Biklen, former Burlington grocer and one-time hospital administrator, died at 10:10 am Monday at the age of 93 in the Mercy unit of Burlington Memorial hospital.
Mr. Biklen, who lived at Burlington Plaza hotel, was former operator of the Biklen-Winzer Grocer Co., and later served as administrator of Burlington hospital. He had been a patient in the hospital here since Aug. 23, 1968.
Born June 7, 1879, in Burlington, he was the son of GH and Christina Paule Biklen. He never married. Mr. Biklen was a member of the Burlington hospital board for 36 years. He also was a member of the state board of Blue Cross, Zion United Church of Christ, Chamber of Commerce, Flint Hills club, Elks lodge, and the Crystal Lake club.
Surviving: Two sisters, Martha Biklen, Burlington, and Mrs. Marie Pendleton, Lawrence, Kan.; one niece and several nephews.
Private services will be held at a time to be announced. The body is at Prugh’s chapel. The family requests no flowers. A memorial fund has been established at Burlington Memorial Hospital.
Private funeral services for Mr. Oscar P. Biklen will be held in Prugh’s Chapel Wednesday afternoon at 3:30. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
