Obituary
Mrs. Fred Biklen, 73, of 1119 Ash, was found lying in the snow near her home about 7:30 pm Saturday and was pronounced dead at 8:10 pm, at Burlington hospital.
The stricken woman was found by Mrs. David Gerdes, 1113 Ash, it was reported. Mrs. Biklen was taken to the hospital by police ambulance and the fire department inhalator squad and was pronounced dead a little more than half an hour later. The coroner was not called.
She was born Lydia Ruckenbrod, in Germany Aug. 3, 1883, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wlliam Ruckenbrod, and came to Burlington when two years old.
She was married to Fred L. Biklen in Burlington on Sept. 5, 1906. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last fall at Burlington hospital, while Biklen was a patient. He was also at the hospital when she was stricken ill Saturday and he was reported in good condition Monday.
Mrs. Biklen was a member of First Methodist church, a member of the Ladies Aid of the church, and the Eastern Star.
Surviving are three sons, Wayne M., Harrisonburg, Va.; Paul F., of Westport, Conn., and Donald W., Park Ridge, N.J.; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. William Bremer and Miss Clara Ruckenbrod, both of Burlington; a brother, Dr. William G. Ruckenbrod, Salt Lake City, Utah, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 3:30 pm Tuesday at Prugh’s chapel. Dr. George Hunt will officiate. Burial will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
