Obituary
Mrs. E. C. Biesenbruck, who went to her reward yesterday, is mourned by two daughters, Mrs. Marie Sprenger and Mrs. Chas. Waldin, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, all of Burlington, and will be held in kindly remembrance by many friends and acquaintances.
Eva C. Flok was born in Odessa, Russia, March 4, 1819, of German Parentage. She departed this life Saturday morning, February 10, 1917, at 4:30, consequently would have been ninety-eight years old next month. She was married to J.H. Biesenbruck, a resident missionary of Odessa, on Christmas Dad, 1841. They then received an appointment thru Rev. Dr. Wm. Schauffler, as missionaries to the German Jews of Constantinople. They were co-workers with Doctors Cyrus Hamlin, Goodell, Bliss, Dwight, and other pioneers of the Turkish mission field. After ten years of service, for climatic reasons, they came to this country and Burlington in 1854, and have resided here ever since. The husband preceded his wife to the better land on December 21, 2885, in his 85th year. Mrs. Biesenbruck made her home the latter part of her life with her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Waldin. From this home, corner of Arch and Main Streets, the last sad rites will take place next Monday at 2:30. Friends are invited to the services. Please omit flowers.
