Mrs. Sophia Bierstedt, widow of Henry Bierstedt, passed away Friday evening at 9:30 in the family residence, 1515 Gnahn Street.
Mrs. Bierdstedt was born in Germany, May 15, 1846, and was 76 years old. She came to Burlington from Germany on February 23rd of that year.
This city remained her home. Mr. Beirstedt passed away June 25, 1900, and she leaves one son, Henry Bierstedt, and two daughters, Mrs. Fred Sonnenberg of Burlington; and six grandchildren.
Mrs. Bierdstedt was a charter member of the Ladies’ Aid of the First Evangelical church, and the last one to pass away. She was also a faithful member of the church.
The funeral services for Mrs. Beirstedt will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the home at 1515 Gnahn street and will be private. Friends are invited to attend the services at 2:30 from the First Evangelical church, corner of 6th and Columbia streets. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
