Obituary
Mrs. Lena Betz, widow of Martin Betz, passed away at 3:00 yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Regina Schrey, on Sunnyside Avenue and the Irish Ridge road, after an extended illness. She had not really been ill, but her time was growing short and the burden of the years was weighing heavily upon her. She was born in the beautiful country of Wuerttemberg, Germany, ninety years ago, and came to Burlington some forty-five years ago. She was an earnest member of the German Zion Evangelical church and made her home at No. 1208 North Seventh Street until she fell ill and then she moved to that of her daughter where she enjoyed loving care to the end. Martin Betz died some fifty years ago and the widow is mourned by two children; Mrs. Regina Schrey of this city and Dr. Hermann Betz, of Jamaica, NY who will arrive here today. Deceased was the last member of her family, a sister of the late PE Unterkircher, and therefore the aunt of Fred L. Unterkircher, Mrs. Theodore Blaul, Mrs. Edwin C. Jordan, Mrs. Henry Potter all of this city, and Horace Unterkircher of Los Angeles, Calif.
The funeral will take place from the Schrey home Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with interment in Aspen Grove. Friends are invited to these services.
