George W. Bershee, 83, life resident of Burlington died at his home, 225 S. 8th Street, Wednesday at 8:19 pm. He had been in failing health for over a year.
He was born here on Sept. 27, 1863, the son of Charles and Emmeline Kissam Banshee. He was employed as a machinist for many years, the last working for the Murray Ironworks company. He retired several years ago. He was a member of the Congregational church, an active church worker, and until illness prevented, served as a senior deacon. For a number of years he served on the board of directors of the YMCA. He was a member of the Machinist union.
Surviving are one brother OR Bershee; 2 sisters, Miss Emma Bershee and Miss Sadie Bershee, of Burlington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in Prugh’s Chapel, Saturday at 2 pm, Rev. Bruce Masselink will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
