Sue Tansey, 51, of Burlington, died at 3:49 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. Born April 13, 1958, in Tylertown, Miss., she was the daughter of J. T. and Darthy Mae Campbell Street. On August 15, 2003, she married Rick D. Tansey in Burlington. Sue was an assistant manager at Walmart Supercenter in West Burlington. She was a graduate of Salem High School in Walthatt County, Miss. She was a graduate of Southwest Mississippi Community College. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a great cook, enjoyed sewing, and was an avid golfer. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Rick; one son, Benjamin Pete of Laurel, Miss.; two daughters, Brandy White of Savannah, GA, and Carey Pete of Burlington; two stepsons, Matt Tansey and Brandon Tansey, both of Burlington; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Michael Street of Jayess, Miss., and Tommy Street of Jamestown, N.C.; one sister, Barbara Sandifer of Jayess, Miss.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service for Mrs. Tansey will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Bishop Jonathan Snow officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
