Obituary

Edward D. Berges passed away yesterday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Minnie Kreuger, of Osborn Street, after an illness of five weeks. Dropsy and Bright’s disease were the cause of death.
Deceased was born in Burlington 38 years ago. He lived here until 21 years of age, then going to Monmouth, Ill., where he went to work for the Monmouth Gas Co. as a fireman. He proved a capable man and rose to the position of assistant manager, which post he held at the time of contracting his last illness. He never married. He has hundreds of friends in Burlington and Monmouth who will ever remember him. He is survived by two brothers and three sisters; HH and JH Berges, Mrs. L Loose, Mrs. Minnie Krueger of Burlington, and Mrs. Lena Swyggard of Oakville.
The funeral of the late Edward Berges, who died Sunday afternoon at three o’clock, will be held Wednesday afternoon at three o’clock from the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Krueger, 2022 Osborn Street. Friends of family are invited.
