Obituary
Shortly after 2:00 yesterday occurred the death of Mrs. Christina Berges at the family home, No. 1301 Corse Street, after an illness lasting three weeks. Mrs. Berges was seventy-four years old and was an old resident of this city, having come to Burlington in the year 1847. She had a wide circle of friends and was esteemed for her kindness and charity to all. She was born in Germany, in Westphaling. She is survived by her husband, Mr. John Berges, and six children, Herman, Henry, Mrs. Louisa Loosy and Mrs. William Krueger, all of this city, Edward, of Monmouth, and Mrs. William Swygard of Northfield, Iowa. The deceased was an earnest member of the First German Evangelical church, and the funeral will be held Friday afternoon from the church at 2:00.
