Obituary
Paul A. Berg, 75, retired pattern maker, passed away Monday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E.H. Gerdom, 2045 Highland Ave., following a one-day illness. Mr. Berg was well known in Burlington, having been associated with the Murray Ironworks for 30 years in the capacity of pattern shop foreman. He was also well known because of his interest in astronomy, having written several articles and appearing before different groups as a lecturer.
He was born on April 26. 1859, at Oslo, Norway, and graduated from the University of Oslo. In 1883 he came to this country and was associated with the Sioux City Ironworks which was later taken over by the Murray Ironworks of this city. His wife, who preceded him in death, was Ella Quall. A son, Alf Berg, also preceded him in death in May, last year. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Dorothea Johnson of Sioux City; two daughters, Mrs. EH Gerdom and Mrs. C Schoell of Burlington; a son, Paul O. Berg, of Ottumwa, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4 pm from Prugh’s chapel. The Rev. JH Buescher will have charge of the services. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
