Obituary
Nels T. Benson, 76, veteran railroad employee, died at his home, 306 South Adams street late last night after a short illness. He was retired on a pension last December after forty years of service.
Mr. Benson was born in Sweden, February 27, 1855, and would have been 77 years old in two weeks. He came to the United States and directly to Burlington fifty-two years ago, and had made his home here since that time. Entering the employ of the railroad, he worked at the freight house for many years and was well known in the city.
He was united in marriage with Mathilda Johnson forty-eight years ago. Mrs. Benson and three children, Misses Mabel and Esther Benson and Paul Benson, all of Burlington, survive. Mr. Benson is also survived by one brother, Swan Norquist, and one sister, Mrs. John Swanson, both of Grant, Mich.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
The body was taken to the Burnett-Wallen funeral home where it will remain until funeral arrangements can be completed.
Services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the church, Rev. AD Freden will officiate. Interment in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The body will be taken to the residence from Burnett-Wallen funeral home Sunday morning at 10 o’clock.
