Mrs. Mathilda Benson, 93, a former resident of Burlington, died Friday morning at Berwyn, Ill., health for a year.
Mrs. Benson lived in Burlington 50 years, leaving here in 1934 to make her home in Berwyn with her daughters, Mabel and Esther Benson.
She was born Sept. 27, 1855, in Vestergotland, Sweden. She came to America and Burlington 68 years ago. IN 1883 she married Nels P. Benson, who died Feb. 12, 1932. She was an active member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Burlington and retained her membership until her death.
Surviving, besides her 2 daughters in Berwyn, are a sister, Mrs. Selma Flodin, Burlington; 2 grandsons, Robert Benson, Iowa City, and Paul Benson, Burlington, and a number of nieces and nephews. Three sons, Martin, Walter, and Paul, are dead.
The body will arrive in Burlington Saturday and will be taken to the Burnett Wallen Funeral Home. Services will be Monday at 2 pm at Messiah Lutheran Church. Rev. Russell Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
