Ralph C. Benkert, 86, of 1916 S. 15th, died in Burlington Medical Center at 6:05 pm Tuesday, Feb. 8.
He was born Jan. 12, 1897, to Andrew and Rosa Max Benkert in Burlington, where he married Marjorie B. Schick on June 6, 1919.
He was a WWI Army veteran and retired in 1957 after 34 years as a letter carrier from the Burlington Post Office. He attended First Christian Church and was a member of the Letter-Carriers Union and the National Association of Federal Employees.
Surviving: The wife; daughter Rosemary Thomas, Des Moines; and one granddaughter.
Committal: 10:30 am Friday, Aspen Grove Cemetery, Dr. David J Seitz. The body is at Prugh’s Chapel.
