Obituary
On the 18th of August William James Bell, oldest son of ex-Mayor Bell, fourteen years old on that day, was severely hurt in an attempt to jump on an engine that was passing on a railroad track near his father’s residence. He missed his footing and fell so that the cow-catcher caught one of his thighs and mangled the flesh terribly. For some time hopes were entertained for his recovery, but he grew worse, his whole system became involved, and he died on Sunday night after suffering indescribably for several days.
Willie was a fine, manly, promising boy, the delight of his parents, and beloved by all who knew him. His death is a sad bereavement to the family, who have the liveliest sympathies of a large circle of friends.
