Obituary
Thomas (Andy) Bell, a former resident of Burlington and better known here as “Andy” Bell, before he left more than 20 years ago, died last Wednesday of a heart ailment in the Cook County hospital at Chicago, and his body was buried in Aspen Grove Cemetery here today. The body arrived last night and was taken from Unterkircher’s funeral home to the cemetery at 10 this morning.
Mr. Bell was more than 70 years of age and was a well-known figure in Burlington during his younger days. He was fastidious in his attire and was sometimes nicknamed “Dude”.
Andrew Bell’s father was William James Bell, a pioneer citizen of Burlington who served as mayor in the years of 1869-1870 & 1875-76. He was engaged in the wholesale grocery business under the firm name of Bell, Smith, and Segner, in the building now occupied by the Brut-Zaiser company.
A sister, Mrs. Ida Forrest of Ottumwa, and a cousin also of Ottumwa came there this morning for the interment.
