Obituary
Mrs. Marion H. Bell passed away in Chicago yesterday morning at the home of her son, TA Bell, 6649 Ashland Boulevard, where she had been living since last fall. The services will be held in Chicago, and the remains will arrive here this afternoon at 3:00 and will be taken from the depot direct to Aspen Grove Cemetery where they will rest beside loved ones gone before.
Mrs. Bell was one of the more widely known of the older citizens, having come to Burlington with her husband, William Bell about 1856. They were married at Salt Lake City, Utah, where Mr. Bell was in business. Here Mr. Bell was in the wholesale dry goods trade until his death, which occurred many years ago. The family lived for many years in the big brick house, No. 420 South Main St., in later years they made their home in a commodious residence, No. 1601 Madison Ave. Mr. Bell was mayor of the city in 1875 and was held in high esteem by very many people. Mrs. Bell had wide circles of friends and was interested in education and charity, but liked to do her charitable work herself, and did not care to have others know of it. The good woman is survived by three children, TA Bell, Mrs. Ida Forrest, and Miss Anna Bell all of Chicago.
