Charles Bell, 809 Maple Street, died at his home at 1:10 pm Tuesday. He had been in failing health for the past few months.
He was born in Lincolnshire, England, Sept. 23, 1868, the son of John and Isabelle Sutton Bell, and come to this country when 4 years old. For many years he was employed as a machinist by the Burlington railroad and was last employed by the Davenport Locomotive Works, retiring 2 years ago. He was married in Burlington Sept. 22, 1892, to Elizabeth Rynott. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, and Trinity Masonic lodge No. 208 of Davenport.
Surviving are his widow; 4 children, Mrs. Ed B. Hartman of Burlington; Charles E. Bell of Davenport, William H. Bell of San Diego, Cal., and Raymond J. Bell of Brownwood, Tex.; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs. John H. Keil of Chicago, Mrs. Catherine Vannerburg of West Burlington and Annetta Bell of West Burlington; 2 brothers, James of West Burlington and Abraham of Burlington; several nieces and nephews. Two sisters and 3 brothers are dead.
The funeral was held at Prugh’s Chapel.
