Henry J. Behne, 2002 Vogt St., died early this morning at his home after being ill only one day.
He was born in Germany on Jan. 27, 1861, and came directly to Burlington with his parents when he was eight years old. He has lived here since that time. In 1884, he was married to Sophia Detjen, who survives. For 35 years he was a car inspector in Burlington Route yards, from which occupation he retired in 1922. He was a member of the First Evangelical church.
Besides his wife he is survived by four sons, John of Fairfield, Ia., Albert of Fremont, Ohio, George of Clyde, Ohio, and Walter of Burlington; nine grandchildren. One son and one daughter preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 at the First Evangelical church. The body will be taken to the residence from Burnett-Wallen funeral home at 10 am Saturday and will be taken to the church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery and services will be in charge of the Rev. JH Buescher.
