Obituary
Mrs. Elizabeth Beckman, 83, died at 5:15 am Monday at her home 9 miles north of Burlington after being ill since fracturing her hip in a fall last November.
She was born Jan. 25, 1872, in Flint River township, the daughter of Fred and Fredericka Schoell, and was married to Fredrick A. Beckman in Des Moines county on July 18, 1894. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last July.
She was a member of Salem’s Lutheran church and a charter member of the Ladies’ aid of the church.
The survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Birdie Thomas of Sperry, and Mrs. Marie Coad of Burlington; one grandson, Everett Witte of Burlington; one great-grandson, David Witte of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Alvin Casper of Burlington, and Mrs. George DeLashmutt of West Burlington, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held in Salem’s Lutheran church Wednesday at 2 pm. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery. The body will be taken from Pugh’s chapel to the church Wednesday morning and will lie in state until time of services.
