Henry Becker, 86, resident of 2814 Mt. Pleasant Street, died at Burlington hospital Monday at 9:45 am. He had been ill since August.
He was born in Union township, Des Moines county, Jan. 7, 1859. Before moving to Burlington 29 years ago, he farmed in Flint River and Union townships. He was united in marriage to Margaret Horn Dec. 1, 1887, who survives. He was a member of the First Methodist church and the Hawkeye Natives.
Also surviving are 2 sons, John Becker and Harry H. Becker, Burlington, 5 daughters, Amelia Becker, Laura Becker, Mrs. Walter Lemon, Mrs. Otis C. Gesling, and Mrs. Wright E. Moon, the latter of Mountain Park, Md.; 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, one brother, George Becker, and one sister, Mrs. Clara Kiefer, Wyaconda, Mo.
Service will be held Thursday at 2 pm, at the First Methodist church, preceded by short services at the Burnett-Wallen funeral home at 1:30 pm. Rev. Deane Chapman will officiate. Burial will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
